Unenforceable Credit Agreements (MBNA)

Thinking about unenforceable credit agreements (MBNA) we think of ways and means of improving our standard of life. Total British household debt commitment as at December 2008 was an amazing £1,457 billion. This has continued to slow down to 3.6 percent in the last 12 month period which is an increase of around £50 billion. Total borrowing in the month of December last year escalated by £2.2 billion; lending secured on personal property escalated by £1.9bn in that same month; unsecured consumer lending increased by £0.3 billion during that month as well. Average household debt in the British Isles is thought to be about £60,000 (including mortgages). The average owed by every British adult is around £30,400 (including mortgages). The average payable secured loan for the 12m families who currently have mortgages at present is about £104,000.

Some other rather stark statistics: £252m is paid just in interest in Britain daily. 124 properties are repossessed every day. 1,490 people are made unemployed daily, and meanwhile someone is declared insolvent every 5 minutes.

But it clearly hasn't only just been individuals who have clearly borne the brunt of this. Business failure have risen vastly over the last few quarters and this increase has been especially dramatic in the recent years culminating in the current downturn. For the last quarter of 2008 three thousand limited companies went into CVL and this was a sixty two per cent rise on the same quarter in 2007. United Kingdom companies have rarely faced a more challenging business climate. When looked at in terms of unenforceable credit agreements (MBNA) this situation poses a challenging trial for us all.
